Flying High With Daddy - DT layout

It's time for my first layout with the Stick It Down DT. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

Let's jump right into the sketch and layout.

I loved this sketch, it includes some of my favorite elements such as a large background and banner pieces. It wasn't hard to make something adorable with it.

Here is my layout. You can see I kept it pretty close to the sketch but I don't have a large strip going down the left side. To make up for that I took my embellishment cluster and brought it up to the title creating a sort of vertical element. It's ok to leave something out or add something else to a sketch, they are guidelines, not hard and fast rules.

Stick It Down Double Page team intros

I know I've been rather silent this month, life seemed to kick my butt in December. I'll be back in the new year with projects, including the preparations for my son's 2nd birthday. 2014 is going to be great and I can't wait to share it with you!

Very Protected - Layout

Hello! I'm back with another challenge layout. This time I'm playing with the November 1st sketch over on the Stuck?! blog. Here is a look at the sketch.

And here is my take on it.

I loved this sketch and kept a lot of elements pretty close. Even kept the stars, but added a lot more and they of course are the tiny wood veneers from Studio Calico, one of my favorite embellishments ever.

I chose to challenge myself on this one and use letter stickers. I'm good about using my smaller alphabet stickers but usually use Thickers for my larger letters. To help my letters standout I outlined them with a thin, brown sharpie. I'm really happy with how it turned out and will be breaking in my larger letter sticker stash more often. Using the flat letter stickers I was worried that my layout would lack the dimension that I love, but popping up layers at different heights gave it all the lift it needed.

Stick It Down DT Call

I did something big today, put my hat in the ring for a Design Team. Eeek! It is super scary to put yourself out there and I can't believe I actually took the plunge.

Stick It Down Design Team call. They are looking for Single Page, Double Page, Card and Project Life submissions. I'm excited to see more of what they will offer. If you been around here a while you will know that sketches are my thing and I can't wait to see theirs, I'm always looking for something new to add to my sketch collection.

If you like sketches you should take a look and consider sending off your submission.

13th Birthday Girl - Layout

Another layout for the Photo Arrangement Replay class. I can't get over how much I like this class and even though it's over I still have lots of sketches to use from it. If you are looking into taking a sketch class to get your creative mojo working take this one.

My niece last year, it's still hard to believe she's a teenager. This layout was a little challenging because she's at that age you don't want to really use cutesy papers, yet more grown up looking lines don't really work either. I ended up going with Bella Blvd.'s Sunshine and Happiness. There isn't a lot left to say because I wanted to keep the embellishments to a minimum. The papers and stamping along the top were enough, I didn't want a lot more to compete for the focus, which I wanted to be the photos.

I will admit that it isn't my most favorite layout ever, not all of them can be though. It's cute and a little quirky, just like my niece.
