Big Family Thanksgiving - Layout

Here is my week 4 layout for the Photo Arrangement Replay class. This has been a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.

This time I did change up my photos just a bit, I need one photo a bit bigger than the sketch allowed. That is one thing I love about sketches, you can follow it to the letter or change it to better fit your needs.

Big Family Thanksgiving

Sorry about my lighting, it has been raining and overcast all week, not the best situation for photographing layouts.

Not a lot to say about this one, for the most part I used one collection. I do want to mention the stamping because it features Memento's new Luxe inks. They are fabulous! You can see it stamps extremely well on Kraft cardstock, not something you can say of very many inks. Plus they cover more solid image stamps beautifully. The "Happy Thanksgiving" greeting on the side has some fine detail among a large amount of solid, a hard image for any ink and this one handled it well. I will be picking up the other colors for sure.

Tummy Time - Layout

Two posts in one day isn't my usual style but I'm running out of time to link up to some challenges. For this layout I've played along with Let's Get Sketchy, October week 2.

I did change a few things up because I'm not usually an askew kinda girl. The top two photos are slanted but that was all my inner control freak would allow. One of these days I will be able to throw caution to wind and let paper and photos tilt, today is not that day.

Tummy Time

Normally I mix lots of manufacturers on my layout and this one only has three, proving you can get more out of minimal supplies. I really wanted to see if I could like the end result with fewer lines being used and to my surprise, I did. It includes lot lots of embellishments, that poor brad pack took a beating on this layout. I'm happy with the stash usage here and it makes me feel less guilty about the amount of shopping I do.

This is my favorite embellishment and also a great stash busing technique. That piece wasn't a favorite in the layered chipboard pack because of the design, the shape was great. I took the pinked circle off of the plain circle and recovered the pinked circle with paper from the same Echo Park collection. After gluing it back together and adding a couple of pieces from the brad pack I had the perfect embellishment for my page. I tend to forget that it's ok to change something if it doesn't work you and that silhouette head certainly didn't work me.

Brand New Nonna - Layout

Hello, taking a break from my Photo Arrangement Replay class to post a layout based on a sketch from 2 Broke Girls Scraps.

I changed up a few things like the sizes of the layers. Plus while I do have the five embellishments pictured I placed them around the layout rather than just in a row. On to the layout.

Brand New Nonna

This uses more of the mirror sheet from Tim Holtz that I used on a layout last week. Papers from Lily Bee and Studio Calico gave me the perfect palette that's both soft and fun. I'm enjoying breaking out my stamps again and this incorporates a baby set from Technique Tuesday and a tag set from Lawn Fawn.

Something I often forget about is second generation stamping. Above you can see some very light stars that add a nice touch. In reality that yellow is far too bright for it to blend in as well as it does. Second generation stamping allowed me to get a nice soft yellow without buying an ink pad just for the job.

Rhealee: Baby Watcher - Layout

I just love when a layout comes together the way I want. For today's two-page spread I've played along with two different challenges. The first being the Photo Arrangement Replay class that is happening with some friends. The second is this is another layout for the Scrap Our Stash, Tic Tac Toe challenge.

My layout features two rows making a plus sign, sort of. I have 3 + Buttons, Decorative Pins, Wood Veneers getting the middle row vertically for sure. I do have a journaling card, although it was heavily altered and an arrow, which might make it qualify for the middle row horizontally.

This uses the new Imaginisce line, Bushel O' Fall. It is simply adorable! If you haven't take a look at this line you really should, it's a great mix of whimsical and classic. I clear embossed some Technique Tuesday leaf stamps on the background giving it just the perfect touch of shine. It's one of those techniques that I used to do a lot and for some reason got away from it. Not sure why because the extra subtle texture it gives can really add a lot to a page.

My favorite thing on the layout, besides the typography paper, is the banner. Those wood veneer leaves inked up to match my layout just make the whole page.

Another item worth mentioning is the title, it uses the gold woodgrain chipboard alpha from We R Memory Keepers line, Happy Campers. I tried to get a good image of the gold foil but it's even better than this in person.

Game On - Layout

Up with another layout using an Scrapbook Generation sketch. This time from the class Photo Arrangement Replay, if you've never taken this class I highly recommend it. To be honest I hesitated before deciding to take this class but I'm so glad I did. It's been my favorite Scrapbook Generation class to date. Here is the info.

When you think about it there are only so many photo arrangements that are possible with scrapbooking. Especially if you like to use the same size often or even exclusively (like 4 x 6") This class focuses on using the same photo arrangement multiple times and getting different looks by changing up the designs around the photos. The idea is to get the most out of photo arrangements and save time without ending up with layouts that look exactly the same. Includes 20 two-page sketches with four different photo arrangements, (each photo arrangement has five sketches with completely different designs) 12 layout examples, 5 bonus photo arrangements for you to practice with, and a 11 page PDF of instructions filled with design ideas and tips.

I'm a little behind so we are starting with the current week, 3. I chose to do my own thing, there are "naked" sketches to use if you want to play around a bit.

Game On
This is my niece's first year, and probably only from what she's said, to play volleyball. I went slightly overboard in buying themed products, what can I say, I'm a proud aunt. The monochromatic look was looking rather blah to be at first but when I decided to try out some Tim Holtz mirror sheets it all came together. Those sheets are amazing they appear to be true mirrors. I tried to get a close-up to show how great they look but it doesn't come close to how great they look in person.

A word of warning, Thickers stick very well. Don't ask me how I know.
